Q:  What’s the best time of day to take photographs?

A:  The best time of day to take photographs, is within two hours of sunset.  That’s when you get those beautiful golden tones.  However, I can work within your schedule.  Babies, kids, and families, all have special needs, so even though sunset looks nice in photos, it’s not always best for families.  We will choose a time that works best for you.

Q:  Do you provide props?

A:  Yes, I provide props.  I have an assortment of blankets, baskets, hats, headbands, and props, but if you have something special that you are looking for, please ask.  Also, if you have something special that you’d like in the photographs, please bring it to the shoot, and I will be happy to include it.

Q:  What’s the best age to take newborn photographs?

A:  The best age to take newborn photographs is within the first 8-14 days of life.  This is when you get those curled up sleeping baby poses.  However, they aren’t always possible, based on the baby.  But we always try for those.  If the baby is older than this, it could be harder, but is certainly doable.

Q:  Where do you photograph newborns?

A:  I offer two type of newborn sessions – lifestyle and in the studio.   In a lifestyle session,  I will travel to your home and we’ll use the nursery, bedroom, etc… to capture moments with mom, dad, and siblings.  Having me come to your home has great benefits too.  Especially when younger siblings are involved.  I do my best to capture sibling and baby shots immediately so that the little ones can go on and do their thing.  Kids have a tendency to lose interest pretty fast, so capturing them right away is best.  And coming to your home gives you the ability to be relaxed and to take breaks to nurse and change the baby when necessary.  In the Studio, I provide props, headbands, clothes, wraps, hats, and more.  There we will also take a few photos of mom, dad, baby, and siblings.  This session is definitely more prop based.

Q:  Is there a preferred time to take newborn photos?

A:  Yes, morning is the best time.  I schedule my appointments around 9:00am-12:00pm.

Q:  What should we wear for our photo shoot?

A:  I suggest picking complimentary colors.  If there is a print, make sure only one person is wearing it and the others should have complimentary colors to that print.  Layers and textures are great too for photographs (ie; sweaters, scarves, hats, etc…)

Q:  When should I take my maternity photos?

A:  I suggest taking photos around 30 weeks.

Q:  What should I wear to a maternity shoot?

A:  Maxi dresses, maxi skirts, fitted shirts, jeans and boots, are all nice options.  I also offer options at my studio and once the session is booked, we can meet there to look at options.

Q:  Can my husband and children be in the maternity shoot?

A:  Absolutely!  All are welcome!  This is a very special time in a family’s life and we want to capture everyone’s excitement!

Q:  Can I bring props to the session?

A:  Absolutely!  Bring them!
